Architect Ravi Gadre (born 28th November 1954) graduated in 1977 from Abhinav Kala Vidyalaya, Pune, where he was recognized with A SPECIAL MEDAL “Throughout Excellence in Design” award for all five years of his architectural studies. With over four decades of professional practice, he has curated a diverse portfolio that spans residenCES, temples, industrial complexes, healthcare facilities, hotels, resorts, and educational institutions.
An accomplished caricaturist and cartoonist, Architect Gadre also received a commendation in the 1995 National Cartoonist Competition organized by the Hindustan Times, New Delhi.
He is the recipient of 16 national and international architectural awards—with honors from the IIA Maharashtra Chapter, JK Cement, JIIA, AESA, AICA, Society Interiors, and the Indian Express. His projects have been widely published in prominent architectural books and journals across India, Singapore, China, and Taiwan.
Dedicated to education, he has served as visiting faculty at architectural colleges in Pune and as a jury member and external examiner at institutions across Maharashtra, Thailand, and China. He has also delivered lectures at IIA centers and international schools, including Tamkang University, Tongji University in Shanghai, and Thammasat University in Bangkok.
His architectural philosophy draws deep inspiration from nature and history, focusing on climate-responsive design, material honesty, and appropriate technologies. He is a steadfast proponent of modernism, exploring new forms and spatial experiences through rational inquiry—a principle evident in his disciplined use of geometry and pure forms.
Architect Ravi Gadre’s professional journey is best encapsulated in his own words:
“An enjoyment in adversity.”
